My name is Amy, and I founded the rescue in 2024 after a family holiday to Tenerife. While visiting a local zoo, I saw a large enclosure full of guinea pigs and instantly fell in love with their personalities and charm. When I returned home, I started looking at guinea pigs being advertised online and was shocked by how many were being given away for free or kept in poor conditions. It quickly opened my eyes to how many guinea pigs were in need of help, care, and safe homes.

I started by taking in a few guinea pigs myself, wanting to make a difference where I could. Before long, what began as a small act of kindness grew into something much bigger. I created our Facebook page, transformed part of my home into a safe space for guinea pigs in need, and the rescue continued to grow from there.

Not long after starting the rescue, I met the wonderful Maria Kirkham, who has become such an important part of everything we do. Maria helps run the rescue alongside me, supporting fundraising, daily care, and the overall welfare of the guinea pigs. Together, we work closely to make sure every guinea pig receives the love, attention, and care they deserve.

Since 2025, we’ve also had the amazing support of our main volunteer, Laura, who has become a huge part of the rescue team. Laura dedicates so much of her time helping care for the guinea pigs and supporting the rescue in every way she can. We are incredibly grateful for all of her hard work, kindness, and dedication.

As the rescue has grown, so has our mission. We are passionate about educating owners on proper guinea pig care, raising awareness about welfare standards, and helping guinea pigs find safe, loving forever homes. Many guinea pigs that come into our care require medical treatment, extra support, and rehabilitation, and we are committed to doing everything we can to give them the best possible future.

Every guinea pig that comes through our doors means the world to us, and we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who supports our journey and helps us continue making a difference for these amazing little animals.
