Rehoming Criteria
Here at Mansfield guinea pig rescue we aim to ensure our piggies have the correct space and are kept warm enough. We do rehome to indoor and outdoor homes.
Although for outdoor hutches it must be kept under cover and have a thermal cover for winter & shaded area all day throughout the summer.
Indoor For Females
Minimum 140 cm cage or a 2x4 C&C for a pair, see below for minimum sizes for larger groups
We recommend fleece bedding or dust extracted shavings
Indoor run or safe space for floor time
Outdoor run, this must be large enough for them to be able to run around and have a lid to protect them from predators.
Minimum of 3 hides. wooden & soft hide preferred.
Hay tray/ pile, no hay bags as they can get stuck in them.
Minimum Set Up Sizes - 'Off-the-shelf'
Pairs
140cm Cage (females only)
2x4 (or 12 grids total) C&C
Pair of males or Up to 3 females
2x5 (or 14 grids) C&C
Up to 4
2x6 (or 16 grids) C&C
Up to 5
5x4 (or 18 grids) C&C
Outdoor
Minimum 6ft hutch with rain sheet cover & thermal cover for winter ( also must be housed somewhere sheltered to keep warmer in winter & in the shade at all times in summer)
No hutches with attached runs the 6ft must be complete indoor floor space
Converted insulated sheds accepted.
