Welcome to our website, here’s a bit about us and how we started. My name is Amy and I set the rescue up.
In February 2024 I went on a family holiday to Tenerife and visited a local zoo where they had a huge enclosure full of guinea pigs and I just thought they were adorable. When I returned home I started to look at guinea pigs on local selling sites, it was then I realised how bad it was and how many were advertised as free, it was so alarming to me as I had heard of people taking free guinea pigs as snake food!
I went and collected one, then another one and then 5 more and before I knew it I created my facebook page and filled the back room of the house with guinea pigs!
It all kind of snowballed from there. Shortly after setting up my Facebook page I met a fabulous woman named Maria kirkham she has helped me raise funds and promote the rescue. She has supported me through all the rescue work and now helps me run the rescue. We bounce ideas off each other and talk about the health and welfare of the guinea pigs.
If the piggies are poorly they will come to either myself or Maria. We managed to raise money for a small shed and ran the rescue from there for 5 months.
We’ve recently moved home and had to leave the shed behind as it was too small and the rescue was growing at a rapid rate. Currently most of the rescues we have are living in my conservatory while we try and raise funds for a new shed which we desperately need.
We mainly have males that are needing homes and any single males that come to us all get neutered and find a home with females so they don’t live a life alone 💔
We are very passionate about raising awareness on Guinea pig care requirements and we spend an absolute fortune on vet treatments.
In less than a year we have rescued over 230 Guinea pigs.
